Beginning Watercolor Painting: Techniques to Build a Solid Foundation - 1 day Workshop

January 18th, 2025

Students will learn beginning techniques to build a strong foundation in watercolor. Introductory color theory methods, instruction on techniques, info on materials, paints, paper, brushes, and micron pens will be provided. We will use flowers or other natural materials as a reference. The supply fee will include a watercolor kit to keep, and a quick reference info document. No experience necessary.

One 3-hour workshop.

Intro to Weaving Techniques -
2 session workshop

February 8th & 15th,  2025

Weaving is a fun fiber medium that can be simple to learn. Techniques for weaving can be used to create a variety of styles. In this 2-day workshop, participants will learn how to create a lap loom, how to warp, and how to choose proper wefts. No previous weaving skills are required. Each piece will be unique. Various weaving techniques will be taught, as well as the preparation of the loom and display techniques for completed pieces.

The $20 supply fee will include a lap loom that the student will keep for future use. All other supplies are provided.

Adult Fiber Landscapes

Participants will explore color, texture, and

composition to create a beautiful landscape from fabric scraps. Some simple embroidery techniques will also be explored. Students will each create a unique finished piece approximately 9”x12” . This one session, 2 hour class is open to all levels - no experience needed.

Students will learn beginning techniques to build a strong foundation in watercolor. Introductory color theory methods, instruction on techniques, info on materials, paints, paper, brushes, and micron pens will be provided. We will use natural materials as a reference. Each week we will explore a different aspect of watercolor and subject matter, including proper ways to set up a still life. The supply fee will include a watercolor kit to keep, and a quick reference info document. No experience necessary.

Mini Tapestries - Weekend Workshop

February 22 & 23, 2025

This workshop is a great introduction to weaving for beginners. Students will learn how to prepare the loom for weaving (warp) and how to select yarns and other materials for the body of the weaving (weft). Students will learn various weaving techniques, as well as display methods for finished pieces. Supply fee includes a small tapestry lap loom to keep, and all other supplies needed to create their tapestry. No previous experience is needed.

Weaving with Meaning-
4 class Course

Weaving with Meaning

This course is introductory, but could easily also be taken by someone already familiar with weaving. Students will use a lap loom to create a weaving that incorporates meaning through color, texture, and alternate material selection. No previous weaving skills are required. A discussion of theme will be used as a starting point to initiate a woven piece on a lap loom. Each piece will be unique. Various weaving techniques will be taught, as well as the preparation of the loom and display techniques for completed pieces. The $20 supply fee will include a lap loom that the student will keep for future use. All other supplies provided.
